The Louisiana Conference of the American Association of University Professors is pleased to announce its Annual Meeting, which will be held in conjunction with the meeting of the Association of Louisiana Faculty Senates and the Louisiana Statewide Colleagues Collaborative, presided over by Prof. Kevin Cope.

 

The meeting will be held on the campus of LSU-Alexandria on Saturday April 20, from 10:00 to 4:00, in the Live Oaks Conference Room of the Student Center (for directions, see below). An invited guest will be Dr. Sandra Woodley, the recently-named president of the University of Louisiana System.

 

The preliminary agenda of the AAUP portion is as follows:

 

I. proposed reorganization of the Louisiana State University system

II. hiring process for LSU system president; discussion of the Senate vote of no confidence in the process of choosing the LSU President/Chancellor.

III. update on situation of former SELU French professors

IV. survey sent by national office requesting the response of advocacy (non-collective-bargaining) chapters and conference toquestions about a variety of issues including services provided by the national office, academic freedom, shared governance, government relations, research, legal programs, and membership building.

V. increasing membership

 

Directions: The campus is located on Highway 71, just south of Alexandria.  It can be located easily using a Google Maps search.  Once near the campus, take the main entrance that leads off Highway 71, following the curving road to the main parking lot, and, there, you will find, just behind an ATM machine, the Live Oaks Conference Room.  On the official campus map [http://www.lsua.edu/About/Campus ], look for building #9.
